Ideas musicales para los que nadan contracorriente

Comentarios 1 Jenifa Mayanja – BrokenMix83

Jenifa Mayanja – Bu Mako Mix – BrokenMix83

BIO Jenifa Mayanja
Ugandan born Jenifa Mayanja has been part of the underground electronic deep house music scene in New York and Connecticut for the last fifteen plus years. Her reputation while firmly cemented in New York circles as a dj/artist/producer unafraid to break down genres in her sets and produce music not easily definable as “deep house”, most outside of that circle have been largely unaware of Ms. Mayanja.
Jenifa solidified her reputation first as a music buyer at the now defunct legendary record store “Dancetracks” gaining knowledge and experience in the music industry in the late nineties and in the early days of Spiritual Life music with Joe Claussell.
Her uncanny ability to program just the right tunes at the right moment and the energy she brought to her live dj performances
earned  praise and many gigs including major appearances at Body &Soul, Club Love, Deep Space with Francois K in New York, numerous residences soon followed. But eventually Jenifa struck out on her to Hamsa was one such party she co created in collaboration with  which saw great success and was featured in “Timeout NY” and New York Magazine..Eventually the “Bu-Mako party was borne from her experiences as part of such a groundbreaking event.
She created and nurtured her own successful and groundbreaking parties that also garnered notable press in “TimeOut NY and “New York Magazine” featuring her eclectic style of djing unafraid to mix up genres. One of those parties “Bu-mako” was the start of other creative avenues for Jenifa namely the Bu-mako recording label and “Bu-mako experience” radio show on www.motionfm.com.  The label has  received its share of press, in Resident Advisor, Little White Earbuds and a recent article in Igloo Magazine writes that, ”Bu-mako is not creating sounds of stripped down space excursions or a lulling reaction to social issues, Bu-Mako comes from a new age aspect. It is a label that promulgates life, wholeness and musical exploration. Some may say its a naturalistic take on deep house, but the branding is not important; its the aural message that counts.

Besides work on her own imprint, Jenifa collaborated in the past  with the following producers/musicians, Anthony Nicholson (Trackmode Records, Clairaudience) as the “Descendants”, Alison Crockett aka Diva Blue (Sylk 130, Naked Music, wah wah 45’s) as the Djima project released on Lifeline Records, Hipbone records with Vicki Bell and Alexis P. Suter(Open Door) as “Bakazi” . Her most current collaborations include Isoul8, Black Jazz Consortium, DJ Jus-Ed and upcoming producer Marco Nega. Also a full length album from Jenifa is on track for release in the early part of 2011 with special vinyl remixes to follow.
