keeping it nice ‘n’ easy for the first hour this weeks soulsearching comes soulful with newies by the likes of José James, brandnew hot project Soia out of vienna, Jonti from Australia, Dirg Gerner feat. Fatima, the wonderful Peaking Lights out of Wisconsin, a brilliant song by Mike James Kirkland before his “keep it up” breakthrough as rereleased by Luv’n'Haight and of course a little R.I.P. for Sylvia Robinson. then straight into a mix which i held back a while to include it in this show, 14 years of soulsearching by the way. a very nice exclusive done by Earwig / Shoes out of Florida. loads of edits in there – and also if you can’t hear the word edit anymore you need to check out the few good ones around, like always the ones by Earwig or the Shoes crew on Plimsoil Vinyl. Including two edits that will see the light of day in fall 2011 now, the Ricanstruction EP by Stereo 77 and MRs Keep Her Happy 12inch. Thanks a lot J.H. ! ! ! next week we’ll have an inspiration mix by Makossa & Megablast featuring OG Spiritual Goddess. enjoy the music, michael show no. 651 posted october 24th, 2011. ++ intro ++ Peaking Lights – Hey Sparrow – Not Not Music Jonti – Batmilk – Stones Throw Incognito – Out Of The Storm (Carl Craigs Planet E Remix) – Talkin Loud Rainer Trueby – Welcome To Our World – Compost Black Mr Scruff – Bounce – Ninja Tune Dirg Gerner – Rubies & Diamonds feat. peace go with you brother. a dedication to one of the real greats who left the planet may 27th 2011. Dear Gil Scott-Heron – the revolution will still not be televised, but it’s happening step by step, with loads of help by your words & encouragement, so it did back in the 70 & 80s, so it will be happening in the near future. you’ve been not “new here” in 2010 when you came back with all your blues and lyrics that still can’t find equivalents among musicians and poets today. your unique voice, your lyrics, your music and yourself as a man with a true sense of humour in between your strong political work and views will be sorely missed, but your memory lives on through your music. thank you for always standing up and strong to yourself, so now may you find your peace somewhere in heaven, maybe sit down next to Robert Johnson . . . until we meet up there, peace go with you brother. enjoy the music, michael show no. 645 posted june 6th, 2011. ++ intro ++ Gil Scott-Heron – The Revolution Will Not Be Televised – Flying Dutchman Max Roach Quartet – Speak, Brother, Speak – Fantasy Billy Bang Sextet – Rainbow Gladiator – Soul Note Miles Bonny & Dexter – Gil Scott – White Gil Scott-Heron – Piano Player (Intro) – XL Gil Scott-Heron – Home Is Where The Hatred Is – XL Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Beginnings (The First Minute Of A New Day) – Arista Gil Scott-Heron – Did You Hear What They Say – Flying Dutchman Gil Scott-Heron – On Coming From A Broken Home (Part 1) – XL Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Rivers Of My Fathers – Strata East Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – We Almost Lost Detroit – Arista Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Angel Dust – Arista Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Alien (Hold On To Your Dreams) – Arista Gil Scott-Heron – Whitey On The Moon – Flying Dutchman Gil Scott-Heron – Is That Jazz (Live) – Peak Top Records Gil Scott-Heron/Moodyman – Bicentennial Blues / Amerikka – Arista/KDJ Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – It’s Your World – Arista Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Angola, Louisiana – Arista Gil Scott-Heron – Lady Day & John Coltrane – Flying Dutchman Gil Scott-Heron – Who’ll Pay Reparations On My Soul ? – Flying Dutchman Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Liberation Song – Arista Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – The Bottle – Strata East Gil Scott-Heron – The Revolution Will Not Be Televised – Flying Dutchman Gil Scott-Heron – Pieces Of A Man – Flying Dutchman Gil Scott-Heron – I’ll Take Care Of You – XL Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Your Daddy Loves You – Strata East Gil Scott-Heron – On Coming From A Broken Home (Part 2) – XL Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson – Peace Go With You Brother – Strata East Mos Def – Umi Says (Instrumental) – Rawkus END OF SHOW
